The earliest settlements in Dröstorp are from the 18th century, and there were four farms established here in the early 19th century.
The barren land did not provide sufficient yields to support those who lived here. A maximum of 30 inhabitants lived in the village. At the end of the 19th century, when many people emigrated from Öland, Dröstorp’s population also began to move away. The village has been deserted since the 1890s.
As a visitor of the deserted village of Dröstorp, you can wander along the old cattle path with its well and crane. There are also ruins of the limestone buildings that accommodated the animals.
